Default I wish my IS350 would shift at 7k + RPM!!

Man, I was just noticing how much power the IS350 has at the high RPMs... its a petty it shifts at around 6,500 rpm... I don't understand why Lexus doesn't let it rev higher? IT would make SO MUCH more power, and be so much more faster... all the power is at the higher RPMs, every time i drive my car I always wished it shifted later... like 7,000-7,200RPM sounds great to me...

Makes me wonder if they will EVER come out with a chip for the ECU... I wouldn't even want a chip to re-map the ECU, if we can just increase the revs it would make it great.!!!

OR... if the IS350 had 8 gears, and the gear ratios being shorter, that way it would stay in the higher revs rather than having longer gears...

Anyone agree with me? Or have anything to add??

Well, there is a lot of compression in our little engines, I would worry about losing a piston. You must floor your car much more often than I do

Perhaps you should get a nice Ducati so you can really hear the revs

Enjoy your ride and please be safe, my kids might be playing on that street you are driving on!

He'll experience valve float first then after the valve drops he'll destroy a piston.

In other words, like a diesel engine. More power at fewer rpm

you must not appreciate lexus being a luxury car. Should've gotten a honda if you wanted high revs.

I love how a lot of 2IS ownsers talk down on Hondas as if we are driving a flagship LS model.

IS350 is under the sedan category than IS F which it's under performance category at Lexus.com
The IS350 is designed of how it should perform as a sedan.

7k would be much harder on the engine, they dont just choose the redline out of thin air.

They arent exactly in the same class though. The average demographic of who drives each is very different.

Well, the IS is a nicer car than any Honda.

And driving the correct pair of wheels too

I also wish we had a revving motor.

Like the M3...I would probably never buy one,
But Oh my god, love the feeling of flying down the road at hella high RPMs

Somehow I think that even if we could adjust the revs up to over 7k, the factory probably set the rev limiter to right were the motor stops making more WHP on an engine dyno graph. I did this "study" on a Honda of mine; makes perfect sense to me.

He wasn't even talking down on Hondas. He was just implying that Honda are high revving.
