Default Cigarette lighter problem

So, after a long due cleaning of the IS I noticed that there was a penny at the bottom of my cigarette lighter (near the shifter). It must have been there for a long time but after removing the penny I noticed that the cigarette lighter doesn't work anymore.

Am I going to have to replace the whole cigarette lighter in that area or could it be a fuse problem? I'm really not sure how to go about fixing this and although the center console power port works fine its some what annoying not having the center console closed if something is charging in there.

Any thoughts?

Check the fuse. I'm pretty sure it was blown.

The penny caused the short circuit...

Ok will do, I assume both cigarette lighters have separate fuses considering that one works and the other doesn't?

Yes both have separate fuses. I need to done mine too, the one near the shifter has a blown fuse too...the one in the center console works fine. I checked the manual a while ago, but forgot to change the fuse cuz something came up. I believe the fuse is located in the fuse box that's located under the glove box (passenger side). I should have time today to do it, so i'll confirm later probably

Yes, it's the fuse box underneath the glove box. It's kind of way back there. I had the same issue. I had to slide the passenger seat all the way back, lay down on my back and shimmy up underneath the glove box to get access. I think it's a 10amp mini fuse but don't quote me on that. When you pull the cover off, it's listed there.

I believe the cover of the center console has enough space to leave a wire hanging out with the lid closed w/o damaging the wire (a fairly thing wire of course, check your out).
