Trade in 2008 IS250 for a 2006 IS350?
Should i trade in my IS250 for a IS350? my IS250 currently have over 74000 miles but the 350 only have a little over 70k. It is worth paying 3k more or ? this is a dealership trade in btw.

I'd say the difference in HP is absolutely worth it. $3k isn't all that much, but see if you can negotiate them down on that difference. I'd be more comfortable with $1-2k difference.

yeah i'm debating on it right now... my car currently worth 17k trade in... the dealership wanted 22 which i can possibly work it down to 19k. It is worthit downgrade from a 08 to a 06? other then the sharkfin, will there be any other downgrade?

I personally wouldnt be able to make that trade. It would help if the condition of the other car is better than your current car, plus if you like the color combination better. Then it would feel a bit more different rather than just the power.

You've already distilled this down to a very simple decision - $3,000 for 100 more HP? Only other consideration is options, since you're out of all warranties on both anyway.
So should you trade? That's entirely your decision, based on what you value. Do you value performance? Do you value it $3,000-worth?
Asking others' opinions won't help. There are many people on CL who bought 250s specifically because they didn't value performance enough to justify the price premium of the 350. Others decided it was worth it. Their opinions will be based on what they value, and will be of no use in determining what YOU value.
Here are a few considerations to think about as you make your decision:
1) You're trading in a car you've presumably had for a while and treated a certain way for a car whose history you don't know. You know how you've treated your car, and if you've treated it well then you may have confidence it will be reliable. Previous owners of this 350 may not have treated it as well, so you're trading confidence for uncertainty to a degree. Published vehicle history can only say so much.
2) The cost difference isn't just the $3,000 price difference between the cars. It's the dealer/TTL fees, and the sales tax you'll pay on at least the price difference between the cars (depending on your state, you'll pay taxes on either just the difference or the full value of the 350 - likely the former). There also might be a difference in your insurance rates - I hope you've called your insurance company to check what the new premiums would be. There are also myriad other paperwork, hassle, and transaction costs that might not be easily measured in dollars.
If you do go through with it, do your homework thoroughly: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

Ive had both and got rid of the 250 because I wasnt happy with it. If you're happy with the 250 don't trade it, if you're not trade it.
I was surprised what carmax offered me for my 250, if convenient, it might be worth it to get a quote and use it for leverage at the dealer.

I don't pay for tax or title fees due to that I'm in the military and my home of record isn't going to be where I'm station. After my wife got her Acura tl, I was driving it and feel the power different which is killing me.

By going to an '06 you lose the full functionality of the traction control disable button (you have to do the "pedal dance" instead), you lose your shark fin antenna, and the back of the front seats has a slightly different design the reduces rear seat leg room. It's your decision, but personally I'd go for it.
