Default Question about lug nuts (chromoly)

So... I'm woefully uninformed about lug nuts, but after searching through the forums have narrowed it down to a couple.

1 - Muteki
Mixed reviews, hearing that the color comes off easily.

2 - Blox Racing
Can't find too much info, but what I've seen seems positive.

In regards to the Blox Racing lugs, it seems they have both forged AL7075 magnesium alloy and forged SCM435 chomoly. I can't find detailed info on the the exact differences, although the chromoly are significantly more expensive.

I hate making uninformed purchasing decisions, and costing more does not always equal better, however cost is not an issue here.

Anyone have any input??

TIA!

HHmmm i went thru 2 sets of purple muteki because they strip very very easily, about a month ago i got the blox and its pretty much the same. Not sure what material they are made of but the blox are "soft" if u understand what im saying. stick with Muteki or NRG, there is another good one cant remember the brand right now.....

Thanks! Went with the Project Kics R40.

Interestingly, they are made of the same forged SCM435 chromoly as the Blox Racing, but the Blox are not locking.

First, lets make sure you have aftermarket wheels before spending any $$$ on said lug nuts. Second, how often do you tend to remove your lug nuts? If the answer is quite often, perhaps a steel nut for your steel studs would be best. If not often, any QUALITY forged aluminum lug nut would be good. I had great success with the Works brand...even with removing them semi-often when I had my turbo Civic.

Yes, I do have aftermarket wheels. I do not plan on removing the lug nuts often, and it seems that the forged SCM435 is considerably stronger and lighter than the forged AL7075 magnesium alloy. I would hope so at nearly twice the price. So the only question left, as you pointed out, is how will they interact with the steel studs in comparison to a steel nut? This is where my knowledge falls short, unfortunately.

The Project Kics are highly rated, and had better be quality for $250... It's done now, so here's hoping they work out.

I do appreciate your input, though!
