Naw that's the stock engine cover. Was really easy to do. And the headlights are hard. You have to remove the bumper and heat the headlights to open up the seal to paint them, then reheat them.

^^^ the only problem with doing something VERY large like a hood is that your chance for error is HUGE... and Im willing to bet it will not turn out like you think. Start with something smaller like a bumper, or smaller accessories for your car.

Glad I found this thread... I'm also looking to get some advice on filling a paint chip. My car was recently hit in a parking lot, of course no note, and I got the dent fixed but I have a chip on the rear bumper on the driver side. I've been told to just get the Lexus paint, don't use the brush it comes with but use a small bag and cut a small hole and use it as a pastry bag to slowly fill and add multiple layers, or use a toothpick with the tip broken off and slowly dab on layers. My color is SFP so probably a little more challenging or at least it seems that way.
Should I secure the area around the chip with some blue tape? Or no tape and have it overflow a bit and lightly buff it down? Is there any other recommendations or techniques to consider for fill this thing up?

I'm looking to paint a whole INGS kit (4 piece), and possibly a WALD spoiler as well
Not sure how an average application for paint goes but would this be adequate?
* 1x layer of adhesion promotor
* 1x layer of grey primer
* 3x layer of base paint
* 2x layer of the high gloss clearcoat
* 1x layer of the 2k urethane clearcoat
how many 12oz cans of each (grey primer, base, clear, 2k urethane) would i need?
also, how long would i let dry each layer of everything?
thanks a lot for anyone who can help me out

my advice would be to take it to a body shop... it sounds like a good idea now till your invested 40 hours in it and the outcome will just be... well not ok... its a spray can.. Ive painted plenty of things with spray paint and its not the same as the pressurized gun the body shops use. Save your time and get it done professionally. I mean look at the example of his engine cover.. That right there would stop me from attempting to paint a lip kit and spoiler...
