2nd Gen IS Facelift.. Refresh? What/When was it?
sorry, I tried searching, not much came up.
When did the 2IS models get a facelift, refresh.... in the BMW world we call it LCI...
Besides knowing when, what was done to the car? engine changes, exterior (obviously) differences..
And also out of curiosity, is it possible to do a conversion..
anyway thank you !!

Just from the top of my head:
2009: front bumper, grille, wheels, LED mirror signals, tail lights, mild interior trim changes.
2011: front bumper, grille, wheels, LED DRL/redesigned headlights, cleared amber portion of tail lights, mild interior trim changes. Introduction of F-sport model.

There have been a number of changes every year... if you're talking about significantly obvious exterior visual changes (lights/bumpers/mirrors/etc) then 2009 and 2011 are the years.
There's several threads detailing all the year to year changes, including with pics
Off the top of my head-
06->07:
Added shark fin
Added X package option
Moved gas/trunk buttons slightly and illuminated them
Enabled TRAC button to disable TRAC/VSC
07->08:
Improved steering feel
Added rear legroom due to new shape of front seatbacks
Illuminated scuff plate color changed from blue to white
OEM 18s color changed to liquid graphite
Coinholder added to dash
08->09:
A bunch of facelift changes (some interior trim and color changes, bumpers and tails changed, the ugly turn-signal mirrors are added, and the hideous lobster claws become the standard 18" wheel)
Paddles enabled to work in D
09->10:
Bluetooth now available without nav
Nav system updated to match what Garmin offered in 2006 (as opposed to the 1999 era one in the 06-09 models)
USB port added for ipod interface, SAT radio now built in as well rather than optional
A2DP streaming now possible
10->11:
Another facelift with bumpers and whatnot
Ugly LED headlamps added (which means AFS no longer offered)
Passenger side memory seat no longer available
PCS option no longer available
X package no longer available
Sport package no longer available
F-sport package added
350 now offered with AWD
Beyond that the exterior colors offered changed over the years, go here for that:

I guess it's natural for people to defend the model year they own against facelift model years. For me, the 2IS was too boring as stock (aside from some of the really nice modded ones I saw here) but the 2011 update got me interested in buying a 2IS. The few things I liked about the earlier IS though were the X-Package wheels, white digital clock, and the blue illuminated door sills but I'm still glad I got my 2011.

Yup... which bodes poorly for my liking the 3rd gen.
No, it's really not that. If I liked the changes I'd just swap them onto my car, most are easy enough.
I genuinely dislike, or am at least meh, about almost every cosmetic change Lexus made in 09 and 11. The bumper changes for example I have no strong preference either way....ditto for the minor interior trim changes... but I hate the LED headlights... and doubly so for removing AFS in the process.... and I hate the turn signals on the mirrors.... and I hate the lobster claws (though that's pretty common )
They turned me off even further when the starting offering fewer options the later the model went... PCS gone, passenger memory gone, ML without nav gone, AFS gone as mentioned... and 2011 dropped the sport package and the F-sport it replaced it with is vastly inferior IMHO.... (what they should've done, I feel, is continue to offer the Sport package, then ALSO offer the "F-sport trim package" with just all the cosmetic stuff and the seats if someone really wanted them).
Really the only improvements I've liked post 2008 are offering BT without nav, updating BT to support A2DP, adding a USB port, and updating the nav to have features from this century.... so just the telematics/electronics stuff... and even then Lexus is still a generation or two behind the offerings from some other folks in that department.
Disclaimer: I know some folks love some of the changes that I don't.... look at all the folks happy to drop a north of a grand on swapping to the 2011+ lights for example... That's their opinion, and they're certainly welcome to hold it, I just don't share it.

Despite sharing different views with you on some things (and agreeing with you on others), I have a healthy fear of the 3rd Gen IS, but I am also hopeful that it will be nicer than I think it might be.
We'll see. If I didn't have mixed feelings about it, I probably would have waited instead of getting a 2IS.
