Relatively speaking, why is the IS 250 so slow?
Not trying to bash the car or anything, I am quite interested in buying one (right now I'm deciding between the 2012 328i and IS 250)
The biggest problem I seem to have with the IS 250 is the fact that not only is it a hell of a lot slower than the 2012 328i, but it also consumes more fuel. (see below for statistics)
Could someone possibly give me an explanation as to why this is? I am pretty uneducated about cars and i would have thought that fuel economy and acceleration would have had an inverted relationship, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
0 to 60/quarter mile times
IS 250: 7.5/15.7
328i: 5.9/14.1
MPG City/Highway
IS 250:21/30
328i: 24/36
TL;DR: The IS 250 is slower and uses more fuel, what gives?

Moarlow - the bmw 328 is a inline straight 6, the 335 is a inline 6 twin turbo....the Is is really slow but i bought it because of looks. My previous cars RSX-S and Accord V6 6spd was way faster. If you need speed get a 350 but i couldnt buy the 350 because i enjoy driving a stick so i got the 250

The 328i is a new redesign. Im sure the next model ISx50 set to drop next year should boast better fuel economy. You could go with the 350 which is faster however i would go with the 328 just because the body is no more than a few months old. The ISx50 as i mentioned is set to change its body next year so you'd basically be sporting the old body in a year or so. If you can wait for the new one to come out i would because i took lexus>bmw because of its reliability and considerably lower maintainability. just me 2 cents.

Honestly, I would love to see the new IS 250 but I need my new car by May, this year. I was bent on the is 250 for a while but am now starting to lean towards the BMW, the "fun factor"/fuel economy is just a bit too much to give up, even though I am a fan of the luxurious feel and the interior of the IS 250, and of course the reliability as you mentioned.
