Is this a 2008 IS250 AWD a good value?
2008 Grey AWD IS250 w/o nav. 65,000 miles. The car is in great cosmetic condition and drives well (drove it yesterday). Tires were replaced in December.
It has had 3 previous owners and the first owner was rear-ended for "moderate damage". I can buy it for $21,500 + taxes
I spoke with the previous owner who said he never had any problems with it and loved the car. He had to get rid of it because of a divorce. He washed it once a week and drove from IN to NY a few times with the car. Altogether, he put ~20,000 on the car in 1-2 years.
What do you guys think? Is this a good value? Should I think about an extended warranty? I would like to make a yes/no decision today or tomorrow (I saw the car yesterday).
Please help, CL!

That price would be at best an OK deal if the car had a perfect Carfax. With an accident on record that they admit was "moderate" (and you can always be sure they temper their descriptions of accidents), then it should be worth thousands less. I'm thinking in the $17k range.
They're pricing that car as if it hasn't had any accidents. Move on, unless they're willing to come down significantly.

The decision to purchase extended coverage is ultimately a personal one and usualy depends on four key factors:
1)The reliability record of your make and model
2)Your financial ability to pay for unexpected repairs out of pocket when needed
3)Your risk tolerance
4)How long you plan on keeping the car
We represent Mercury Select and we are A+ rated with the BBB and A.M. Best. Mercury is one of the oldest providers of extended coverage in the industry and has been providing automotive peace of mind to consumers since the 1970's.
