Default Fix: Clicking noise when cold start engine

I know there is post regarding the clicking noise on cold start and alot of people had problems regarding this issue

I took mine into the dealer and they actually brought in the lexus corporate inspector came in and inspected my car and found the reason why it does that!!

So the dealer told me that the camshaft is messed up(not quiet understand what was wrong but camshaft is one of it) and also your spark plug was mis-firing

The dealer said because of those problems, I was hearing a clicking sound on cold start
If your have the same problem, go to your dealer and asked them to check your camshaft and sparkplug misfiring.
Getting mine done right now under warranty so glad im not paying anything to get all those fixed~

Well whoever has the same problem, good luck

So there's the cam gear TSIB, which may be the camshaft issue he pointed out. It's extremely common and is posted everywhere on CL.

It's not in any way shape or form a safety issue. I haven't seen a single person on CL post that they were put in an unsafe situation because of a momentary grinding noise when starting up the car.

Car manufacturers are neither required nor expected to issue recalls every time there's a issue with their cars, that would be utterly ridiculous. Instead they will issue a TSB to dealers and it will be covered by applicable warranties. Outside of those warranties, it will be out of pocket.

If car manufacturers had to issue recalls for any and all problems that afflict their cars, safety- or non-safety-related, and cover the costs themselves, do you have any idea how expensive cars would be?

To put it more simply:

Problem: Suspension may collapse or wheels might fall off while driving (actual problem on the original ford focus)
Solution: Safety recall for all impacted vehicles

Problem: Your ipod may make a whining noise if it's plugged into both the aux and power ports at the same time
Solution: TSIB with free warranty fix if someone experiences the issue and complains about it

both are known potential issues with a vehicle... but only one is likely to kill you.
