Don't start posting TSIB PDFs here, mods will close you down.

When I joined CL, I paid for a 2-day subscription to TIS and downloaded every single PDF for the 2007 IS350. I compiled them all into one master PDF and posted it on CL for the benefit of everyone else.

They closed the thread immediately because the TSIBs are copyrighted by Lexus. They're only available by paying for them, so Lexus could take action against CL or a user for posting for free documents they paid for through TIS. I didn't know that before I did it.

I admire the thinking, as I had the same, but be careful.

^ Are you confusing the TSIB's with the repair manuals?

TSIB's are just Service Bulletins, they are posted all over CL.

I thought they were released publicly for anyone to read

No, I'm talking about TSIBs. This was DaveGS4's message to me after trying to upload a PDF of all TSIBs:

"I searched and found the thread where you were trying to upload the PDF.

The information you purchased and downloaded from TIS is copyrighted and cannot be posted here.

Your post would put our forum at legal risk of being sued by Lexus Corp (and they do read this forum and give us legal cease and desist, etc).

Sorry, but illegal!"

Just passing along the information.

Perhaps they're going with the theory that posting one in a given thread is fair use, but posting the entire lot of them in one place, not so much.

Apparently I'm the only one on CL who doesn't know what TIB stand for ...

I think there's also a difference between finding one out on the internet and posting it here, vs. paying for a subscription to a proprietary system, mass downloading a bunch of copyrighted files and posting them here so others needn't pay for the same subscription.

Also, TSIB is a technical service bulletin and is essentially a description of a known issue and a detailed how-to for fixing it provided by Lexus/Toyota. Most often provided for dealers but available to others through TIS.
