2008 IS250 Burning Oil-Part 2
So the saga continues as i have heard back from the dealership after the second and final run for an oil level check up.
Turns out that there is still oil burning in the engine, which now i am a alittle over a quart short after 2000 miles into my last oil change. According to the dealership, i was told that according to the owners Manual, it is COMPLETELY normal for the car to burn oil as long as it is not burning more than one quart of oil per 600 miles. if that is the case, then that would be grounds for either repairs and possible coverage in warranty. At this present time, the dealership does not have a case in order to proceed with the aftermarket warranty.
Anyway, has anyone heard of this crap? I have not looked through the manual since i have misplaced mine. Can anyone help with this?? please advise.
I am so over this crap, i am at a breaking point of trading in this puppy.

It does indeed state that in the owner’s manual, specifically; anything over 1.1qt per 600 miles is considered excessive and you should visit your Lexus dealer.. etc. Unfortunately, some engines just use more oil than others, which I’m sure is frustrating to no end, but it doesn't necessarily mean there’s anything wrong with it.

Sounds like it didn't get broken in hard enough and the rings only marginally seated. My '93 Celica was that way. I've never followed factory instructions for break-in since.

I think i wil hold on to the car a few more months and deterimine how much consumption is actually taking place. In the event that it is consuming more than what should be allocated, i will go in and raise hell in hopes that they finally see that the engine is in need of repair. Keep your fingers crossed for me

dang never heard of this before... why not try and fix the problem with the dealership now instead of waiting a few months ? Ive had some issues in the past with my car regarding TSB which they told me drive it for a few months then if it happens bring it back needless to say either that rep is gone or magically there was no notes in the system....

ive tried to develop a case for the warranty company by doing oil checks the first 2000 miles. I was going every 1000 to determine how much oil consumption was taking place. Overall, i was losing about .75 quarts of oil every thousand miles. My adivisor was on my side and fought tooth and nail until the mechanic told her that it was nothing out of the ordinary since it clearly states in the owners manual that not enough consumption is taking place. Advisor basicaly told me that nothing can take place. So fustrated.
Should i get a second opinion? Read my other post on the "IS250 burning oil'?

I thought that I was the only one with a burning oil problem. I have a 2008 IS250 with 50k miles. I'm using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W-30. I will check my oil level more frequently.

Damn sorry to hear that, the oil level on my 07 IS250 barely moves between oil changes. It's definitely not near 1 qt after 2,000 miles. Hope you get everything sorted out!
Btw I noticed you mentioned you misplaced your manual. Lexus provides a free replacement manual, just fill out this form:

I got mine pretty quick when I ordered it
