Car idles high then low?
Hey,
I have an 06 IS350, I noticed that when its cold and I start up it idles funny.. It idles high then low, high then low, etc. Any ideas? Normal? It stops once it's warmed up and driving.

It's normal because the engine is part direct injection for 350 - it will do that when the engine is cold.
Since I have a IS250 which is full DI, it does that sometimes if it's cold enough and does that for about half a minute or so then gradually goes to normal. I usually just start my car and go back into the house and let it warm up a bit.

Its finally getting cold here in Texas (41 outside this morning) and when I start my car it idles at about 1.7k and gradually comes down over time. It may bounce back up maby 100 rpm at times but goes back down. It is just the engine warming up.
I would also suggest driving your car easy until it is at its optimal driving temperature. (Usually for me the temp guage is abit less then half way on the temp marker and i'm ready to start running!)
best of luck to you
p.s. I also noticed that when i added the f sport exhaust it made it idle alittle higher, my guess is just because its making it eaiser to breath it can warm up alittle faster at higher rpms. Not 100% sure on this but it sounds good at least
