Luxury package vs. f sport package
New member here looking for some info. I did a search could not a dirrect comparision.
Looking to get an IS 350. I would like to get a 2011 model but seems like fsport package is hard to come by and most available 2011 have the luxury package. What would i really be missing or gaining by opting for the luxury package option?

There would be some things missing depending on which side you go but there would be no love loss between the two.
I probably would go with F-Sport.
However, if it were the Canada spec, then F-Sport there has extra features included which is bascially a sub set of the US luxury package (ie. Rain sensor, telescopoic steering wheel, auto-tilt reverse) and a few others things as per Canada spec.

IMO, there is quite a bit of difference in the content of the two packages. Scroll down this page and you'll see:

not true at all... it used to be a choice of Luxury or Sport package, and those were moderately close... both had a half dozen luxury features, the differences were sport pack had sport pedals, sport suspension, and aluminum trim... the lux package didn't have any of those but instead gave you woodgrain, rear sunshade, and illuminated door sil.
The sport package was dropped for 2011 and replaced with the F-sport package, which lacks most of the luxury features the old sport package came with... (memory seats, rain sensing wipers, auto tilt and dim side mirrors, power tilt/telescope steering, etc...) and instead gives you the same sport pedals and suspension, but not much else besides appearance items (badge and stitching stuff, a unique looking steering wheel, and the seats from the IS-F, which are more supportive, but lose the vented feature).

Sound like you get better options with lthe luxury package. I guess i can always add the spoiler and front lip and a few other "F Sport" options after the purchase. Suspension wise, what is the difference?
Thanks you guys have been very helpful.

The sport suspension is a 0.4 inch drop front, no drop in the rear, and both shocks and springs are stiffer than standard... and the springs are linear (better IMHO).
The F-sport springs (that is, the actual F-sport parts, NOT what you get in the F-Sport package) are progressive instead of linear, and have more of a drop (1" front and 0.8" rear I think).... the F-sport shocks are different from the sport shocks too, they try handling the non-linear rate of the F-sport springs, though it's impossible to ever have the shocks be "correct" for progressive springs.

I don't think you could go wrong with either package, however you'll find that most CL members would probably prefer the F Sport package. One's more sport oriented and the other leans more to the luxurious side.
