I'll post some pics tomorrow if I have time, I am getting the car tinted here locally at a shop I have taken all my cars to. I believe I will be going with Suntek Carbon. I always go the same on all sides because I hate that uneven look, but I do go slightly darker on the back glass because it helps make the sides appear a bit darker as well.

Here is 3M FX Premium, it is a carbon film so no fading, also doesnt interfere with cell phones and GPS....

I WOULD STRONGLY Recommend going with the same percentage all the way around.... As I have 20% all the way around and it looks like the fronts are lighter due to the light coming in from the windshield. Im afraid if you offset the tint even more it would look much darker in the rear...
Maybe do 35% all the way around. it looks pretty dark at night.

^^ agree. Don't make the same mistake as me. 5% is too dark and just doesn't look good for a lexus IMO than 35% all around including the front.

This is my third IS. First two were 20% all around and now I have a white 350 with 30% fronts and 15% backs and rear. You can barely tell they are different on my white IS and you can see out the rear view and side view mirrors when you back up at night. Good luck

What color is your interior? A black interior doesn't need as dark a tint to look good from the outside. I have 35% on my IS with black interior and it has been a good combination for the last five years here in TX. 25% would work, but with black interior it is a bit dark for my taste.

I have a lexus dealer option tint that seems pretty light, maybe 40% or something around the back. On my Tahoe I have 5% over stock 20% in the back, basically making it 0% in the back. On the front two I had 30% over almost nothing, I did this only because in CA you must have nothing lighter than 70% and most cops don't care as long as they can see at least most of you through the window. At night you could never tell the fronts were lighter than the backs and during the day it wasn't that huge of a difference, but seeing out of the back though the rear view mirror at night was extremely hard. The 30% I had on the front did a great job in helping the blinding light from cars behind though. Either way you go, blacking out the back windows always looks good, and definitely helps control temperature and save the finish of your cars interior, as far as the fronts go they really help at night, but know your local laws and how the police usually tend to act towards tint. Good luck

Default I found the tint guy the dealers use

They are very picky... They want the job to not come back and bite them on the $)(#.

He explained to me why they need to take off all door panels and some gaskets. He showed me some botched up jobs where gaskets were not in place correctly after a bad tint job.
He is not cheap. Looking at $450 for five windows but I really feel the difference is substantial.
Any Thoughts???

I'm confused, to what is this post in reference? I've gotten several of my past cars tinted (none the 2IS) and there was never any need whatsoever to remove anything. The jobs were all $200-250 and they were perfect.

I did a 30% all around, and turns out Best Buy wasn't comfortable doing my install, because of some issue with the door locks. So I had audio depot do the job.
