New User: Looking To Buy A 2007 IS250: Please Help!
What's up everybody? I've been looking around at this forum for some time now and I finally decided that I should join this community.
Anyways, I was looking to get a 2007 IS250. I've been researching and I came upon this vehicle. I never thought to even look at a car with 100,XXX miles, but this car looks really clean. What do you guys think? Is the price okay? It seems to have been a local car, so that's a good sign to me. A lot of work seems to have been done at the Lexus Dealership about 2 miles from where I am.
All comments would be helpful. Thanks a lot!!

First of all, you aren't going to have many issues with an IS with 100k miles. There's a good number of members getting over 100k now without any issues, and there's one member here with 250k miles and the car is still running well
$12k is too low to offer, you'll probably get an akward stare. I looked up the value of a car like this in VA according to KBB, and suprisngly its still right below $20k for a dealers suggest retail. They have it right about $17k for "good" condition. I'm assuming this car has some wear on it after 100k miles both inside and out. i would offer them $14,500 for the car and see how it goes. I wouldn't pay more than $15,500 for it though. It's a decently loaded car, you got navigation + backup camera too, so id say if you get it for around $14-15k, with a good interest rate, you probably got a good deal for a car in your area. Since its not a CPO car, aim low for the price. They probably didn't give that much on the trade in anyways.
Have you checked the service record from Lexus personally? I know you say a lot of work seems to have been done at the local dealership, but if didn't get that from the service record, the dealer can provide it to you. I personally like buying cars that are locally bought and serviced though. My car was San Diego bought and serviced for 38k miles before i got it, so i know it probably never saw snow or harsh weather lol, obviously that wont be the same for you in VA

I'll go get the service records from Lexus. So 14-15K seems reasonable then. I'll go check it out and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out--then the search continues I guess. I'll follow up when I get an update. Thanks so far!! Very helpful.

Also keep in mind don't trust just the Carfax or Autocheck reports. There's a few members here that have found hidden damage on cars they thought had a no-accident history. Always good to pay a local & trusted mechanic an hour of labor to inspect the car, especially on cars with higher mileage

Way too low. I'd take a stab with ~$15k (that's even pretty low) just to try to meet in the middle somewhere. Looks like a good car though. Just carfax and get all the normal used car checks done.
EDIT: Pic of the rear looks like the left (driver side) exhaust tip isnt really aligned how stock IS's look. If its not just a funny angle, have a look under the bumper to see if its just awkward on the hanger or maybe its a sign of past accident? Just a thought/observation!

Well the car checks out. I work at a dealership and according to ADP's AutoCheck it scores a 91/100. This is excellent. No title issues, no emissions issues, no wrecks, 1 owner.. It books out for around ~$18k. That dealer took it as a trade-in for probably around $15k and is now selling it. It will be impossible to get it anywhere near $15k because of taxes (6-8%) and doc fee (probably $500) will throw the cost way in the sky.
For what it's worth, the dealer should give you the car out the door for about $17k. If not that, then walk away. For me though, its worth buying from a private seller as you can get a IS350 for $3k more. Good luck!

Just FYI. I can tell from the pics that the car only has Premium package, which includes wood trim and ventilated/heated front seats. Also, No ML-Nav. Its a pretty basic package IMHO. If you still want it, I'd say $16.5k is reasonable.
Also make sure all the TSIBs/recalls are done on it, especially the slush thing that IS250s are known for.

As someone else has said, get the Service History from Lexus.com and post it here. I'd also check AutoCheck if I were you, since there have been some recent threads posted on CL about people who bought a car with a clean Carfax or Autocheck and then found it did have accident damage posted on the report they didn't check.
Personally I don't think I could pay $18,000 for a car with 100k miles on it. I just did an Autotrader search for 2006-2007 IS250s under $19,000 and quite a few came up with less than 100k miles. Here are just a few:

I'd be willing to pay $500 or so more to get 30k-40k fewer miles.
I just think there might be better deals out there. That's a lot of money for a 250 (not even a 350) with 100k miles (or really any car with that).

+1 never trust carfax and other auto reporting companies. Carfax stated my sister's car was spotless despite being in three big accidents. Inspect the car yourself for any major body work.
