Lexus is250 awd or is350 for the same price? which one would you choose
Hi everyone, im new here and im about to a buy a lexus is pretty soon. My main concern though is which one is better for me...... you see ive been shopping around and pretty much both the is250awd and the is350 are in the same price range.
where i live in spokane theres snow, so i would rather get the 250awd just because awd , the is350 may have a bigger engine, but is that it???? i dont really know anything else the 350 has that would win me over vs the is250awd, plus being rwd is350, it may cause problem during snow times.
you guys think im making the right choice? (is250 awd)
i would like to hear your guy's opinion.

Its up to you on and your driving skills in the winter time. I had the AWD and just wasnt what i wanted after 2yrs of driving it. I got the 350 with snow tire for the winter and im much happier. I had to do the first time again i woulda just gotten the 350 and saved me money. But that just me.

I live in the Northeast, so I may a conscious decision to buy a 250 AWD because I had been driving a front wheel drive vehicle. Yes, you can change into snow tires BUT it's a nuisance to do so every time. You have to take it out, balance it, and even align it. I got sick of doing that after 2 years, so that's why I went with the 250 AWD.
Plus, you get to save money on gas! So 250AWD all the way!

Are you talking new or used? Used, an equivalent year/mileage IS250 AWD should be less than an IS350.
In any case, it can be distilled down very simply: do you want 100 more HP or do you want AWD? You'll find many threads on here arguing over this, but many find snow tires to be equally if not more important than the drivetrain setup in snow-driving effectiveness. I personally would get the IS350 and get snow tires, because the IS250 AWD is mind-bendingly slow, and with the IS350 you get a much quicker car with nearly no loss in gas mileage.

calvin2376 im talking about used, is the extra horse power noticeable? and does it feel a lot smoother then the 250?
with the awd i feel its better as my daily, im not even sure if both car would be the same insurance for me

having a IS250 AWD im satisfied. It is definitely slow, but im not hating driving it or anything. If i could choose now i would go 350. I dont think i would mind switching up tires in the wintertime. Its worth it imo

Yes, the extra HP is hugely noticeable; they're night-and-day cars. Jumping up an extra 50% in HP will always be noticeable. I highly recommend you go to a dealer nearby and test drive both, you'll notice immediately. Then you can determine if the extra power is worth it to you.
As far as smoother, I assume you mean with power delivery? Because everything else on the car is the same (ride, suspension, etc). I've driven both IS250s and IS350s and haven't noticed any difference in smoothness of anything.
As to insurance, it's very easy to determine - go to Geico.com or Allstate.com and do two quotes, one for an IS250 AWD and one for an IS350. My guess is they won't be too different.
