Should I replace the water pump & spark plugs at the same time?
My brother will be replacing the spark plugs and k&n air filter for me soon.
I wonder if I should also replace the water pump at the same time?
It has 106k miles. The temperature gauge takes a long time to warm up. I called the dealer and they said it might be the thermostat. They told me to bring in the car and they will do an overall vehicle inspection for $150. I can get the water pump for $155 + shipping from sewell. Thanks CL for the discount :-). Should I bring the car to the dealer for a check-up or just buy the water pump and replace it? I heard a small grinding sound coming from the engine.

If you can't do the inspection yourself, i'd take it to an independent mechanic for a second opinion. Probably will be a fraction of $150. I wouldn't change the water pump unless its necessary.
