I’ve done similar tool making. Why go and buy an expensive tool for one time use. I’ve bought so many tools that I’ve used once. Or never used. I was diagnosing a vacuum leak couldn’t find it so I ordered a $1800 smoke machine. Found the leak befor it came in and haven’t used the smoke machine yet.

A press is nothing more than a rigid frame and a bottle jack. Everything needed was already sitting in my garage, so I used what I had. I really like to work steel, been a two hours built and it worked great. These, more than 1/4" inch, L bar doesn't flex at all.

The IS250 uses either a 180mm or 205mm differential. The IS300 uses a 205mm differential. The IS200d, IS220d and IS350 use a 208mm differential.

The options vary between them, what is being discussed in this thread specifically is the 205mm differential used in IS250 RWD and 2009+ IS250 AWD models.

Are you looking for an LSD for an IS250 or for an IS220d?

I'm looking to fit an lsd to is220...05-09 seeing as the is200 will fit the is220?

The is200 lsd will fit the is250 but I think you need some kind of an adapter?

The Mark 2/Verossa/IS200/RS200 (GX110/GX115/JZX110 - 1JZ-FSE models/JZX115/GXE10/SXE10) use a 180mm differential. The LSD from this can be used in the 06-08 IS250 AWD.

The Mark 2/Verossa/IS300/FR-S/86/GT86/BRZ (JZX110 - 1JZ-GTE models/JCE10/ZN6/ZC6) use a 205mm differential. The LSD from this can be used in the 06-15 IS250 RWD and 09-15 IS250 AWD.

The LS460/IS350/IS F/RC200t/RC300/RC350/RC F/GS200t/GS300/GS300h/GS350/GS F (USF40/GSE31/USE20/ASC10/GSC10/USC10/ARL10/AWL10/GRL12/URL10) use a 208mm differential. The LSD from this can be used in the 06-12 IS200d, IS220d, 06-19 IS350, 16-19 IS200t, and IS300.

No adapters are needed for any of these options. Note that the gear ratios may or may not be correct for what your application is. If it is not correct, you will need to swap the gear set.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff. After owning my Lexus IS250 for three years and searching the junk yards, I finally got my hand on a Torsen lsd (M98) for cheap. Your insight was really helpful.

Default 07 Is 250 AWD TAPPIN NOISE

I got priced at $842 for a rear differential right side axle work. The tapping noise is right at the rear passenger wheel right where the wheel connects to axle u can hear the friction each rotation. Is that too high for just one side n a new differential. This guy charged me $442 for 2 new rear rotors n brakes( he changed parking brake too) n thought that would be the fix. Who has experience changing is250 rear diff or axles. Accurate info appreciated

FWIW: Seeings no Hooligan like activites have blown up the these LSD's, someone in the 350 crowd should swap the rear sub-frame and toss in the FR-S/86/GT86/BRZ LSD.... It could be a cost effective solution!

There is not only a subframe, there still needs to be redone the cardan and drives from 2.5

Yes, I should have said, do your homework! That said, it's still cheaper than the 3k i dropped on the the OSG which is waiting to be installed.

To your point, if one removes the propshaft nut and flange, a new crush sleeve is needed behind the seal and front bearing.
