Success: Installed an IS300 Torsen LSD in my IS250

Jeff,
You mentioned something about the Supra differential: do you know if the Mk3 Supra rear diff 373 clutch type will fit in a IS250 Manual RWD?
Also when swapping to the IS300, is this a bolt on process? You just took it apart to inspect it and replace a few things correct?
Thanks!

The Supra's internals will fit the IS250 Manual RWD, yes, the exterior is quite different however.
I didn't really take it apart, I pulled the cover to verify that it was a 3.91:1 Torsen and to reseal it. I put the entire thing in without modifying anything.

Jeff,
So to do the Supra MK3 LSD swap is just a matter of opening both cases and swapping the internals? Or is there a lot more involved?
Thanks- I will post pics of the process, I may be getting a rebuild kit depending on the condition of the diff.

Jeff- Thanks for researching/ trying and posting all this info!!!
“06-08 IS250 AWD models have a 190mm rear differential (A Torsen from an IS200/RS200 Altezza might work well in this application)
06-11 IS250 RWD & 09-11 IS250 AWD models have a 205mm rear differential (The IS300 Torsen is a bolt-in upgrade for this application)
06-11 IS350 and IS F models have a 208mm rear differential”
Another question- the 06-11 IS250 RWD and AWD have the same rear diff casing size regardless if they are manual or automatic correct?

can anyone tell me if this is a limited slip or not? I want to put this in my '12 IS 250. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-IS300-M96-CARRIER-DIFFERENTIAL-41110-30861-2001-2002-2003-2004-2005-OEM-5/360612609778?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D18239%26meid%3D3147611027790599249%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D8344%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D261344400026%26 Thanks

Googled the PN - Looks like it is NOT LSD:

thanks I actually found another location where they were selling carrier assemblies, now I just gotta figure out if a locked carrier assembly is a fully locked one just like a welded diff or if it's a true LSD, if anyone knows, please help out as I may be purchasing one tomorrow. thanks again

Questions:
1) when buying used lsd out of an IS300 , is there any parts that could wear out inside the diff diminishing its locking performance, like clutches etc?
2) would it be better to just pay the extra & get a carrier out of an FRS or BRZ?
3) Lastly, how do you check if the differential is lsd if the tag is missing or unreadable?
Thank you in advance!

No, there are no wear items in a Torsen like there are in a clutch-type LSD. It's performance does not diminish over time. An FR-S would have lower mileage, which is nice for the ring and pinion, but only if you are interested in the 4.10:1 gear ratio. If there are no labels/tags, you'll need to do a visual inspection.
Check my other post for identifying whether it is an LSD or not by doing a visual inspection through the axle hole.
