Honestly something doesn't add up there. I doubt we are getting the whole story from 2011....

No single fuse impacts all systems. It is more likely they tapped into a data line for power and/or ground killing the communications between the hundreds of on board computers thus disabling a bunch of systems all at once and the funny error on the screen.
