Default Valve problems AFTER Recall was done

Two weeks ago, I pulled out of a parking lot and headed down the road. I got to a stop light, and when it turned green I hit the gas... nothing. The car was dead! I tried to start it several times, but no go. It would idle very rough and shake the whole car.

I was able to rev the gas a little and pull across the street into a parking lot. I called for a tow truck.

Now, my car has been at the dealer for over 10 days. They told me one of the valves was not sealing properly. I don't know if that's the spring, or what, but I should find out more details in a day or two when I get the car back.

I thought it was interesting to have valve problems, since the recall was done on this car approximately 7-8 months ago.

Are there any types of long-term damage that I should be concerned with on something like this? Has anyone ever had, or heard of, post-recall valve problems?

Just got my car back today! 25 days in the shop. They say it was the valve seat that took so long?

Anyway, I've got a list of error codes my computer spit out. Basically, they tell me that the valve wasn't sealing properly due to the part that attaches to the spring (the cam?). Even though I had the recall done, there was still this issue which was related, I guess.

Anyway, my care seems to be running correctly now so we'll see...

To me it sounds like you had an actual issue with one of the springs failing, due to improper installation or materials. If a spring or the keeper "holding the spring onto" the valve malfunctions, your car will not be able to "breathe" properly causing the stalling condition. If a new valve seat or a re-cut of the valve seat was needed, either the valve had horrible valve float or due to the malfunctioning spring/keeper caused valve-to-piston contact causing a bent valve. Seeing that our vehicles are high-compression, the margin of error for mechanical timing and P-2-V contact is alot smaller.

Sounds like they took care of you though. The head had to be removed from the vehicle and more than likely the machining of the valve seat or replacement of the valve seat had to be taken care of outside of the dealership. I don't think dealerships usually have a press of such caliber onsite.

I took my 350 in today for an oil change and they call me an hour later and say I have an excessive oil leak at the top of the engine and I can't drive it. They say they must take the engine out to fix!!!! Is it possible that this could be from the valve recall they did last year?? The dealer says no but something doesn't sound right to me. Any techs out there that can chime in on this?
I have had the same dealer do all oil changes on time since having the valve recall done..and no problems ever reported.

Before this oil change had you been monitoring the oil level in the motor? Have you seen any oil leakage onto a garage floor/driveway? If no, I'd say F'um! Tell them to complete the oil change and you'll take it home. Make sure oil is topped off when you picked it up, and look at the level when you arrive back home. Shove a good piece if cardboard under the engine bay to monitor for that "excessive leak". Report back on your findings.

POS! I knew better to have my valve springs replaced due to that recall. I had the recall about 4 months or so ago and now my Check VSC light won't go away. At stops, sometimes my car would have these minor shivers.
