0w-20 like the car says, but I can't find any 0w-20 anywhere. Found some 0w-30 but no 0w-20. Oh well I won't need to worry about finding any for another 14,000 miles though.

ANY OIL brand name conventional or synthetic oil will suffice in our cars. Most likely you are not drag racing or tracking in your IS250. Synthetic does provide better protection but it hardly makes a difference if you maintain your car regularly. I choose to use synthetic for the better protection and because I am too lazy to change my oil at 5k miles (7500 is the usual amount I run) and I also do a lot of driving. Also the price difference isn't much so why not?

i've only owned my car a few months so far, since july or so. just came up on my 88,000 km service and i changed the oil myself (as i usually do with all my cars). it had only been serviced by the dealer before by the previous owner.
with the harsh alberta winter just around the corner (we will most likely see temps of -30C and lower) i decided to go with the german-made castrol edge 0w-30. Thought i'd try the 0W to help with the cold cold starts here. can anyone see any issues with me having done so over just the standard 5w-30?
