Have you tried changing the battery? I just had mine fail load a few months ago. It was good enough to start the car, but I recently did some work on the car and left the doors open so it killed the battery and now it doesn't hold charge. Luckily our cars are able to feed enough current into the battery for a start up. Slow start up, sometimes it won't even start, but Optima Red Top on the way.

By the way how many miles on your car? Or at least when you changed the first one? And do you have an aftermarket sound system?

I'm curious as to how many miles you have on your car as well, I just changed my battery so I'm assuming you would have to go through quite a few batteries before changing your alternator.
