this happened to me too solution... IPOD only

 

how much did you purchase an aux cable for? and does it matter the brand? or quality?

 

mine is monster cable but i dont think it matters is around $20

 

If connecting an ipod do NOT get a cable that goes headphone jack to aux.

Get one that goes DOCK to aux.

You'll get significantly better sound.

They're like 5 bucks if you don't need it to charge as well... the ones that do both are more in the 30-50 buck range.

 

Another idea - change to FM radio, then back to CD, and push eject immediately. About one of your comments - "doesn't open up" - nothing opens up when you insert a CD; just wait a second or two, and then insert it part of the way, and it will grab it and pull it in. If you can insert another CD, it has to change the focus to #2, so then you could try other methods.
