Why do Lexus still have Bridgestone Potenza's on their IS models ?
I just test drove a 2011 Lexus IS 300(gulf spec) which ran on the same bridgestone Potenza's mentioned in this Forum. It was really very noisy on harsh roads although it was quiet and silent on smooth pavements.I was surprised and shocked at first to hear such noises from a Lexus even on rough pavement since few weeks back I test drove the 2011 Toyota Avalon and that was super quiet .
Why are Lexus still offering Bridgestones if they know its ruining their interior cabin noise,or do they ?
Is it best to ask my dealer to change the tires (If i am going to purchase an IS 300) since what I could gather from this forum is that Bridgestone's are the only Culprit for the interior noise issue.
Please advise guys.

I know the Potenzas have a very durable lifespan, and it can handle pretty well for the most part in either daily driving or even spirited runs. When I tested the 2011 2IS with my aunt, she did say that they were a bit louder than what she was used to. We have the 2011 Avalon with the Bridgestones and they're neither here nor there. I can hear the noise, but overall it doesn't affect the driving experience. Not sure about my passengers, however.

Lexus is known for their cabin quietness. And it should darn well be quiet inside when the music is off.
I was considering buying the IS. But this noise problem on rough roads has totally turned me off now. Wish if the dealer changed the tyres.

So I guess Dunlops are the best Option for reducing tire noise then.
But I read somewhere that Good Year's was the best.
Does anyone else have ideas on better tires that can reduce noise a lot ??

I wouldn't say that some brand of tires is noisier than another. It really depends on the particular model.
You can check out tirerack reviews or another site that has a noise rating for each tire. So far, that has worked for me, but more often than not I've ended up with Michelins for more than I originally wanted to spend. It's all good in the end

The IS is sport luxury, in that order. People looking for genuine luxury should look es350 and up. Also people who buy sport cars like to know what the engine and tires are doing by listening to them.

I recently had a GS400 and put Continental ExtremeContact DWS on it several thousand miles before selling it. It had some sumitomos that were pretty worn. There was a very noticeable difference. I loved the DWS and as soon as I can wear out the potenzas that are on the IS350 I bought, I will be be going back with the DWS'. Check out the reviews on them through the tirerack link on CL. They are tough to beat when performance, tire life and cost are all factored.
