Getting ready to paint calipers..... What color do you think?
The yellow on ChrIS250's is soooooooo sexy, but I have to agree that it wouldn't look the same on a lighter colored car. I really dig the nice work on the red ones pictured above, and still feel like the red is really going to set off nicely with the TP paint and tinted windows. I went back and forth between red and black, but am afraid that the black really won't stand out. I don't want flashy, but do want people to know that I have painted calipers. Trying to find some middle ground between the two extremes.

BTW my vote is black w/ white.
I am wondering what type of shop I could get to take them off completely and either powder coat or spray, apply decal, clear-coat. I would say as long as it is in the $200 range I would rather have that done, but if it is more than that I might think about DIY.

I think black will still stand out fine, but it will not be the first thing somebody notices when they see your car either. Grey would probably not stand out at all, except the lettering in the decal. Anybody have pics of black calipers?
Chris, are the calipers already smooth like that? I don't have an IS (yet) but I'll be purchasing one in the next few weeks. I did the calipers on my IS300 and they were textured and it made it a little difficult to get a good finish.
They are a little rougher than they look in the painted pictures. The paint fills a lot of that in. With that said, the section that you see the decal on, really is a smooth finish already.
It's smooth, Decals were put on after red paint dried and then followed with high team clear coat, 3 coats. No need to take of calipers, just make sure you properly mask what you don't want paint on.
