Mobile 1 5w30 every 5k. Costco is the cheapest price I've found. Local dealer charges $75.

I got my car used last Oct. It was a lease and I don't know what oil was used in it.

I changed my oil today and put conventional in it. Could there be a problem if the previous owner used Synthetic and I switched back to Conventional?

Nope, they're entirely compatible (otherwise blends would be impossible)

now that conventional is in keep it that way. It's not good for the seals to be switching back and forth...

Yeah, that's also a myth.

As I said, they're fully compatible with each other.

Thanks guys. When I bought my used R6, the owner said he put full synthetic in it and told me to keep running synthetic because it's bad to switch back.

I run full synthetic in the bike anyway, only one oil change a year.

It's a pretty common myth, but it's a myth.

If don't believe me how bout the folks who make and sell motor oil? (who would LOVE if they could tell you it were true so you'd be locked into more expensive stuff)

Is it ok to switch back and forth between regular and synthetic motor oil? I heard this causes leaks? Is this true?

Switching between synthetic and conventional oil does not cause problems. Because the oils are compatible, you can switch back and forth as often as you like.

damn, and i was checking under my car for oil spots after I made the change...

I was concerned about switching to synthetic after 3 years of conventional by the previous owner. Guess I'm gonna have to double check anything they tell me at the dealership...
