Default General Wheel Performance Questions

OK. So I think I have settled on getting the 2011 F-Sport Wheels (mainly due to money because I have brand new tires that fit that size wheel, and we just had second baby so the fact I can get any at all is good)...Now with that aside.

These wheels actually weight 1 lbs more than stockers I believe. I mainly wanted the forged aluminum due to weight loss (5 lbs per wheel). So is there really any performance gain with 5 lbs per wheel?

Secondly the fact that the forged aluminum wheels would have been 19" rather than 18" does that offset the performance gain, if anywhere to be had?

Just want to make sure I am not losing performance by not getting the lighter wheels?

Thanks

I don't think it would be a noticible difference during everyday driving. I mean it makes sense that the car would perform a bit better since its lighter.

I think in general, reducing unsprung weight with lighter wheels and tires would increase performance. There was a similar discussion about this issue in this thread:

…and how wheel size effects performance:

Don't worry about it! Your new baby will offset that weight from day one!

if this hasnt been answered the way you like.
i tried this theory with my previous car (maxima) i dropped from 19's to 17's. the 17's total setup (tires included) weighed 4 pounds less per wheel and i dropped barely a 10th of second. so weight is not a big difference between once your off the line.

my 60' times dropped by about .1 to .2 seconds on the track. but for dd makes no difference. maybe on the brakes but that's about it.

if you got them already let me know how you like em if there is any difference at all.
