Your HID ballasts should be covered under the Basic Warranty. The Basic Warranty coverage is for 48 months or 50,000 miles (Bumper-to-bumper), whichever comes first.

If you bought the extended warranty then it should be longer.

We have same problems in our 3GS, Its the bulbs 99% of the time. You can find some cheap bulbs on ebay.

I've had no issues getting the HIDs fixed when they've burnt out. I haven't had the issues you're describing but just burnt out bulbs which they even replaced after the warranty expired (although that was during the whole acceleration fiasco so I think it was lexus telling dealers to do whatever).

Anyway, I would think you could get it fixed under warranty

Got my car back from the dealer. They ended up replacing the light bulb. Im glad it wasn't the ballast. $200.97 for the light bulb and $125 for the labor . Hopefully the driver side doesn't go out anytime soon.

I checked Sewell and it's $175 + Shipping, I figured it wasn't that much of a difference so I just bought it from the dealer. Plus, they detailed the car for free. You have a link to the website that sells them for $85? So next time the driver side goes out, I'll just buy it there.

It's a detail not a wash. I think I know the difference. And it says on the work order. I don't mind buying a used bulb from a fellow CL member but unfortunately my wife would rather pay alot for a new one.

like others have stated it's more than likely the bulb. It happened to me when I was around 60k, the bulb would go on at start up and then eventually would go off, turing the lights on and off would ususally turn it back on temporarly.

Just get some aftermarket ones, doesn't make much sense to get factory ones unless the dealer is paying for them under you warrenty.

This just started happening to me today with the driver side. Every thread that I've been in has very good info. You guys are awesome. Time for better bulbs!!!
