Underhood Labels
Hello Everyone. I have a question regarding my 2009 IS350. I bought the car about 6months ago, used, from a local dealer. The car is in great condition and only has about 19k miles. The car is black w/black interior and loaded. Anyway, I do my own oil changes and noticed that the car has no stickers or labels under or on the hood. The car has a clean carfax and the dealer said there had been no accidents. So, should there be any labels or stickers on the underside of the hood?
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks,

There should be an emissions sticker that outlines what emission equipment the car has. It should also have a couple other random stickers, one for the A/C system, one for something else.. the emissions label should be to the left of the hood latch striker. If the stickers are missing, its likely that its an aftermarker or stock replacement hood. I would question it further if you were told it had never been involved in an accident.

Thanks for the info. This kinda has me worried. Anyway, if I were to try to return everything as close to original as possible, are those labels/stickers available from the dealer?

Things like this could happen if someone sat on the hood and dented it. The previous owner probably just replaced the hood and left it at that. Just traded in a car with a cheap aftermarket hood replacement to fix my dented one and left out all the details such as stickers, it goes un-noticed at trade in and saves the extra money of going OEM replacement and is never reported to Carfax. Given the hood does not have stickers it is likely NOT a Lexus dealer installed hood for they would have used an identical OEM set up (stickers and all).
