hi, i have a few question . i been using Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic motor oil, but when i look up online and there a Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30. i read that i need to change my motor oil 3000-15000 miles, while the mobil 1 EP is around once a year. my question is. since i last oil change was mobil 1 5w30, is it passable to do the mobil 1 EP? also, do i need to flush my engine before replace the mobil 1 EP?

You'll be fine with switching over, no need for engine flush. On the other hand if you were switching over to Amsoil 0W-30 then I'd suggest their engine flush product. As a matter of fact only reason I'm using it in my next oil change is because the dealer put some of their oil in my car after doing a top engine cleaning, before that it was Amsoil, and before that Royal Purple.

 

Honestly, if you're driving less than 15k a year, and not taking a lot of short trips, you'll be fine with 'regular' Mobil 1 synthetic changes once a year (though I might consider changing the filter 2x a year, regardless of what kind of oil you use)

 

^^^ agree with Kurtz, I drive less than 10K miles a year and I use Mobil 1, so far no issues...
