Yes I'm going to try the Hankooks for my next set of tires, mostly for the lower pricing. Even if the Hankooks were somehow inferior to the PS2s in certain aspects (which, of course, they are not - at least according to that car and driver tire comparison) I'd still want to get the Hankooks. PS2s are simply too expensive.

I have the Continental ExtremeContact DW (Max Performance Summer) and they are awesome. They grab the road so well

You've obviously never run RE-11's (or 960's or G019's for that matter.)

Seriously I LOVE my OEM tires! I have the ER33's and now 30k miles on them... still quiet and comfy, even wear plus handle great... Scared to get anything else!!

I had an 07' IS250 with the RE 050's and those were HORRRIBLE! sooo noisy and rough

both. depends on the package.

tire manufacturers should be required to say all season is an indication for light snow capabilites and not rain performace. it has no indication as to how it performs in rain. like u said, max tires usually have better wet performance than all season tires.

obviously, everyone's definition of great tire is different. yes, re050 are definitely noisy and wear faster, but they also stop better. u should try what tirerack calls ultra high performance tires like re760

I have the re760's and they are far more superior than the er33's.

Quieter
better wear ratings, 320 compared to 140
better grip

I'm curious about this... because mine is a sport package car and still came with the crap Turanzas... so what package came with which tires and what's the source on the info?

I just assumed AWD cars got whatever crap all seasons Lexus had slotted as getting a good deal on that year, and RWD ones got whatever crap summer tire Lexus had slotted as getting a good deal on that year.

i didn't bother to find out specifically. when i was shopping for the is in 2007, i noticed the dealer lot had some with er33 and some with re050. i was pretty excited, thought it was re050 on 350 and er33 on 250. what a bummer when i found out it wasn't as i got er33

went back to look at the dealer for the first service. those few i saw that had re050 were fitted with the package that included those gun metal/black chrome rims (which i think were x rims). i assume it was that x-package or something. didn't opt for that, naturally i only got er33.

so no, i don't have a "source" for that. just based on what i saw on the dealer lot, which was some had er33 and some had re050. my assumption (which may be wrong) is that it came with the x-pack. with ur revelation that sport pack had er33, maybe it's x + sport pack?

the ER33 plainly suck. I had the nerve to take them to the track and it was as if the car had 700hp and no brakes with drag racing suspension. just awfull. If they werent so expensive id say they were ok, but for so much money and so little performance...

just went to dealer for valve recall.. did not find any more re050 on summer 18" equipped new is. did find some 17" re92.

however, found an is350 being serviced that had re050 fairly worn down. cali license starts 5XX... , which is just a few months b4 my 6AN... , so i'm taking a wild guess that it's on there from factory. obviously could be wrong... but who knows.. maybe the person is on this board too .

Let me guess.. deadhook means they will stick to the floor right?

I like the the Hankooks myself. I think I will pick up a set around January if I can wait that long.

Yup, means they just GO rather than sitting there and spinning... which made the 0-60 testing I did for the sprintbooster a whole lot easier

FYI Hankook currently has a $60 rebate on a set of 4 but you have to mail it in by 12/15, so you might can save a little bit buying a month early.

(the PDF is hosted at tire rack, but you don't have to buy from them to be eligible, I got mine at Discount Tire)

The OEMs for my car were terrible and they were the Dunops. Had them changed with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus almost over a week now and have been happy with them.
