I just recently purchased a used 07 IS250 with 61,000 miles on it and I was wondering does having TSB work only available during the manufacter warranty (60,000 miles i think) I have this clattering noise coming from the engine all the time.. I noticed when I did a oil change to Royal Purple 5W-30 from Mobil 1 Syn....(don't know if that makes a difference). Also im getting some CRAZY brake dust from the front wheels and Ive read theres a TSB for that too. Ive had the car for 2-3 months and put 6k miles so I dont think I can take it back to the original Non-Lexus dealer that I bought it from. Another thing I noticed is the extreme rattle from coming into first gear. I feel and hear rattle from the clutch and takeoff. Please pray for my baby!

 

Unfortunately I believe the TSB for the brake dust can only be done within 50,000 miles. As for the clattering noise you're hearing from the engine, I believe the noise you're describing is the direct injectors which is normal.. I was scared too initially until a buddy of mine also had the same noise. The only other rattle from the engine with a TSB is for the rattling noise during start-up and that can be covered by the 70,000 miles powertrain warranty. Hope this helps.

 

For the tsb, parts might be free but they'll charge for labor. Or that's what they did when I took my 06 is250 in for the brake dust tsb.

 

they shouldnt have charged you anything. it is supposed to be fixed if you are expierencing that certain problem.

 

To clarify-

TSIB work should be 100% free (as in beer) under warranty, and 100% not-free when out of warranty.

Recalls are 100% free anytime. TSIBs aren't recalls.
