Sorry to bring this back to life but I'm having the same problem, it started with
A rubbing sound coming from the steering wheel and now I have no power steering, i have an 07 Lexus is250, called Lexus To see if there was a recall for my car and they said no, which is lame because my warranty does not cover Power steering. Any input will help thanks!

As with previous posters who have had the issue. Do you happen to have aftermarket HIDs?

I think these guys have some different problem. They lost the ability to steer not power steering.

Does the car give a code? Maybe it's just a fuse for power steering.

May or may not be related, but I have an 09 and the steering wheel will tend to be twitchy and not feel stable. I searched and had this TSB done. L-SB-0016-11

They replaced the steering rack. It feels more stable now. Hope this helps.

Bringing this thread back...

Not completely following about the aftermarket HIDs. Does installing just aftermarket HID bulbs cause this steering issue?
