I got the IS250 because I am concerned about the gas. When gas prices shoot up again, I don't want to be crying while gasing premium.

Comparing to my wifes, base RSX I can gas her full tank for 30 bucks on regular... but my IS250 I get about 1/2 tank of premium for that same price.

If speed is your concern, then go for IS350. You get plenty of thrills with few thousand more.

the 250 is sufficient for daily driving. its still fast, though not as fast as the 350 or F. but from those who have the 250, ive heard nothing but great things. they like the fuel consumption, reliability, lack of upkeep needed (maintenance), and the interior is lexus luxury indeed.

Just to give you the math on the "fuel consumption" issue.

The 350 is ~10% worse on mileage. And 50% better on hp.

Wait for the 350. I bought the 250 and was disappointed in the power. Sold it after 1 year. Now I have a 350 and haven't looked back. I don't race it at all, but every once in a while when you need a burst of speed, it's nice to have the option.

If I was shopping for a 250 right now I would think long and hard about the problems people are having with carbon buildup on their valvetrain. The difference in cost between the 2 cars is quickly diminished if you have to rebuild the head in a few thousands miles, assuming you buy one with some miles already on it.

Thanks to all who have responded. From your replies looks like I might wait until I find the right pre-owned is350. I could live with the 250, but if I can find the right 350 in great condition I will go for that.
