Default City Center for Navigation

I need to know if you can simply enter a city for navigation. On road trips I like to simply use the navigation feature to count down the boredom until we arrive and I cannot seem to select a city center only. It always asks for an address.

Is there a way to do this or do I need to enter an address to navigate to?

I dont know the answer, but I would like to know too.

It would be cool to just put in "portland" or something, and have it show how many miles are left to get there and estimated time of arrival.

Maybe just input a POI like a gas station or something?

i think you can just find the city center... of say portland.. it should have the navigation point... or just search aPOI around the city center...
