My girls scratched it with her rings. Over time it will fade and become almost unnoticeable.

Over time it will wear down and you will hardly notice it...I had some on the bottom and they are gone now after about a year and half.

I have actually done this a few times already. Once with my keys, as I hook them to my pants and when I was getting out, the keys scratched the bottom side of the steering wheel. And after a while, it went away

Chiming into an old thread, since I noticed the leather dye / shoe polish fix wasn't mentioned in any of the previous posts. Had to do this before on a previously owned Acura, and the results were fab - lasted for quite some time as well. Quick how-to can be found here: http://www.hondasofnewengland.com/in...showtopic=4854

I may just have to try this on a tiny spot in my car and see how it turns out

You may just be pleasantly surprised. My suggestion would be to do it on the bottom backside of the wheel first, to test out its effectiveness. Then if all goes well, apply to the rest of the wheel. I'll be doing the same in the upcoming few weeks. Previous owner of my IS had a jagged ring that gouged the leather finish in a few spots. It's become an eye sore in a few short weeks or ownership.
