Rear seat - fold down or small pass through?
Is it possible to get a 350 with a split fold down rear seat, or do they just come with a small pass through for skis/etc?
Thanks in advance.

You may think it is dumb, but Lexus doesn't. Lexus feels a solid rear seat has more integrity and is better in damping noise. It's their call as they are the ones designing the car. Take it or leave it, no option.

90% of 4 door sport sedans have rear fold down seats. bmw, toyota, nissan/infinit, just to name a few... i still think its dumb but its not something thats going to be the deciding factor when purchasing a car.

I just discovered this when trying to put my snowboard in the trunk. I couldn't believe that the rear seats didn't fold down, so I called a Lexus dealer and they confirmed that they did not fold down. I do think this is dumb. Lexus designers must have a good reason why they designed them that way. I asked my friend who has a 5 Series BMW and he said they don't fold down in his car either. They make it an option and charge extra if you want that option. Now that is dumb.

Is there anyway to just take off the rear seats? I might do that if I am going snowboarding. No one sits in my rear seats anyways.

its for chassis rigidity. Better rigidity = better suspension movement, better comfort, better handling, less noise. Adding a foldable rear seat would have meant extra weight including more body stiffeners.
If you really want foldable seats, dont bother looking at the IS.

I'm sure there is a way to take off the rear seats, but I'm sure it's just way to much work. Just going to get a snowboard rack. These are the times I miss my Scion Xb. Everything fit in that car. It was basically a box on wheels. Hehe

i don't feel the need of having extended trunk room simply by having a fold down rear seating. as tex2670 mentioned, bmw does have the option to make it a fold down as opposed to a pass through, which i don't know any bimmer owners purchasing that option. for snowboarding and skiing, installing a roof rack may not be a bad solution.

Dont even bother. you'll find nothing but steel and wires.
