My IS vs. random tire on the freeway
Last night, right at about 12:30 am I was coming home from North Carlina. As I was cruising down I-85 (freeway is not lit around Atlanta area due to high electrical bills, i guess) I ran over a tire that came from under another car that was a bit ahead to the right of me. I had no time to react, so I ran over the f***ing thing!! Here's the result:
Allstate cut me a check this morning to get it all repaired, but it was counted as my fault (since I was the one who hit the object?!). Can I get any money out of the county or the city that maintains that stretch of the freeway? This could have been easily avoided had the freeway been lit

That sucks man at least your okay. How much did they cut you a check for? that's pretty fast for an insurance company. You should ask them how much your premiums are going to go up and for how long and compare that to the cost of repair... you may save money by paying out of pocket for the damage.

The estimate came out to be $1866.00, but the check was for only 866 since my deductible is a whopping 1K... I will check with them on how this will affect my premiums before I cash that check and definitely going to change my deductible to something like 250 or 500 bucks.
All State really rocks with their responsiveness. And the adjuster dude was extremely polite and worked really fast.

Allstate has taken care of me too before in my other accident. Our deductible was $500 though, and took care of the near $7k total damage that the dealership found, from random ****.
Roads suck, get brighter better visibility headlights to try and avoid them best you can. I will be switching from 8k to 6k headlights when its time to change the bulbs. Last year was an unlucky year for me, in March hit a pothole and broke a wheel, and then in December had a minor fender bender, literally. You can try writing a letter to the department that maintains public roads, but it'll take weeks until they write back to you or issue you a check.

same thing happened to me couple months ago. except the tire was rolling across the fwy when i hit it. it literally bounced off my left headlight and knocked out the entire left side front lights. i mean nothing on the left front lit up. no fogs, highbeams, signals, drls...nothing. i had a hell of a time taking apart the front end to get to the headlight to plug the connector back in. trust me... it is not a diy u want to do. luckily it did not do much damage. f'ing random fwy tires.

i feel your pain. a table top bounced
off my headlight, hood, then sunroof,
and finally the roof on the highway 2
years ago. pretty hard to avoid with
walls up and mild traffic.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that. Same thing happened to me too except it was just the tread. I ran it over on the freeway and it broke me lower grill and scratched the hell out of the lower bumper
