OMG. I was just browsing and found this thread luckily. I just came back from the dealers here in Mississauga, Ontario for oil change and they were recommending to change my spark plugs as well. They were charging me a whoooopping $370 bucks to change it and they said it takes 2 hours to do it and it includes 6 plugs for the IS250. I'm no expert but I knew something was wrong with this $$$ figure. I said I will get back to them on that one. From what I've read here, plugs are in the range of the $ I was thinking. Hahahahaha. These dealers just make me laugh! This thread saved me money.

 

they were charging you for the labor... of course the parts are cheap.

go to your car and try to find the spark plugs, i dare you.

 

is their any DIY yet? i have yet to look for my sparkplugs, but are they hard to get to? I help my friends change their sparkplugs on BMW all the time, but i have to admit BMW engines are much better laid out

 

How about the denso spark plugs, does anyone have recommendations on where to purchase the FK20HBR11 online?

No problem. I ordered them yesterday and they arrived a few moments ago via UPS. So far, a good vendor..

 

I think on the IS, you have to remove the intake manifold to get to some of the plugs.

 

Considering that the manual states that the Denso FK20HBR11 should be used, how does the Denso SK16R-P11 in the link perform to the previously-mentioned one? Is it compatible in any way because I checked the denso website and it does not list the SK16R with the IS250.

 

I had to return the NGK plugs from drivewire.com. I pulled the old plugs out and noticed that the new NGK plug was nearly an inch shorter and had only a single side electrode. The factory plug has three side electrodes.

Luckily I only started on the passenger side first. Just received my plugs from Carson and plan to install them this weekend.

 

I think the dealer wanted $300 to change the plugs so I just Did it myself. Some basic tools and It must of took an hour total. You have to take off the sheilding and intake to get to the plugs. The torque I think is 25n/m ill check it out. I went with the stock plugs for $110 but it was 8 plugs that I bought. 2 extra just in case. The car did run alot smoother.

 

I ordered the 6 densos through a friend of mine at toyota and they cost at $100 with the employee discount. Wasn't sure if the 3 double o-rings at the intake manifold are required to be replaced as well.

So here go my questions:
Is 25n/m the correct torque for the plugs?
Do the o-rings have to be replaced when changing the spark plugs?
