^great advice. if the price is 27k with mods, and he allows you to see it, write down the VIN and carfax it. make sure there was no structural damage or any accidents on record. also, bring in a third party mechanic (preferably a buddy) to see about the engine and electronics. if everything checks out, you should be down 27k ONLY, but at least you'll have a great car thats really in pristine condition with the low mileage. best of luck!

Default Don't trust carfax

My 2007 had over 11k in damage, had nearly the entire passenger side replaced and had to be put on a frame machine. It did NOT show up on carfax when we went to trade it in a year later. A few weeks after trading it, I googled the VIN and found it had sold on EBAY. The seller listed it as having no accidents and a clean carfax.

was the damage all repaired? i wonder what details get filed under carfax. i had the same thing happen when we traded in our es300. there was an accident on file, but the repairs were out of pocket. although the repair was pretty good, it wasnt as if it came from the factory, but lexus still took it anyway.

mods don't add any value to the car as much as i remember. so 27k is a fair price. only mods i know that may add value are wheels. good luck..

The car was repaired through insurance at a Lexus body shop, and absolutely nothing showed up on carfax. I am not sure why. I feel bad for whoever bought it.

Mods don't add any value to a dealer. In a private party sale, they most certainly do have value, but expect to get maybe half of what you paid for them.

The wheels alone could sell for $2K+. Like I said before, I would stay away from that car. Adding in what others have said about it being shady, I'd move on and spend the same or a little more to get something you're sure is in good shape.

Please, 10k miles on an '06? This isn't a $100,000 car we are talking about, but a fully loaded & modded IS350.

A $27k asking price means something is wrong with it, and they are hoping you won't ask to find out what it is before you give them your money.

06 with less than 10,000 mile? Check the carfax and make sure it's not a theft recovery or salvage car. But then again, carfax are not always accurate if someone paid for the repair themselves and don't report the accident.
