Where's the heat?
My car takes forever to warm up, and when it does, the fan doesn’t seem to blow very hard (at your feet) whether in Auto or Manual mode. It’s as if the thermostats value is too low or doesn’t open correctly. I also noticed that some air comes through the vents even though it’s set to Auto/feet. My Acura warmed up in half the time and the fan was strong. Does anyone else have this problem?

It's not in your head. In very cold weather the fan doesn't turn on until the engine has warmed up a bit. I like the feature -- no reason to pump frigid air into the car.

I'm fully aware of how the "Auto" mode works... it worked as expected in my 04 g35 coupe and 07 TSX... my point is that the time it takes for the engine to warm up/thermostat to open is a bit excessive. The Acura warmed up in Auto mode within ~5 minutes. This morning, it was 27 degrees out... I started the car at 8:38AM (in Auto mode), drank some coffee, watched the news and then got in the car. The seats were warm from the seat heaters but the temperature gauge was still at the lowest mark, with the fan on the lowest speed at 8:50AM. I have a friend with an 07 Accord that warms up in 5 minutes in 25 degree temps. It doesn't make sense.
The heat blowing through the upper vents while in floor mode is a different issue altogether. If I close all of the vents, I get what I would consider normal flow to the feet, which should not be necessary. If you intend for the heat to be on your feet and you're wearing a heavy jacket, then you'll get pretty hot when it blows from the vents as well. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, but I do expect things to function as designed.

If you love the car don't let it idle in freezing weather while you watch the news. That's terrible for the car.
drive the car. It'll warm up faster that way too.

My IS 250 takes longer to warm up than any car I can remember. At 20 degrees, my wife's Avalon warns up in less than a mile of local driving, while mine can take 3-4 miles.

You could move down here to Florida and not have to worry about this problem. haha
I know what you are saying though, I almost feel as if recently the heat is not blowing air as strongly as it did when I first got the car. Sounds strange but I was thinking about this the other day. In my old car I could drive around with the windows down and the heat on full blast and be nice and warm still, mind you this is like 50 degree weather not REAL cold weather. In my IS though it seems like the only time the heat blows a decent amount of hot air is if the air re-circulating is already 80+ degrees.

Get a block heater. No need for unnecessary idling. Saves gas, engine and polar bears =).
I could not survive without my Defa block heater and interior heater when it's -4 F outside and my IS looks like a block of ice.
(http://wup.defa.com/en/wup_applications_cars.html) I'm sure there are 110V applications as well. Defa stuff is for 230V (Europe).

Not this week. I was talking to my friend in Orlando on the way to work this morning; he was thankful his car has seat heaters since the temp was 29 degrees. I think even Miami was in the 30s earlier today.

I have the same problem so I'm glad to hear it is just not me. My problem is my office is only 7 miles from home and with the single digit temps in central Indiana area, it barely gets off the peg when I arrive. I'll sit for 5 min just to let it warm up more. I am glad I am using Mobil 1 oil to cut the wear. Guess it's one of the disadvantages of a small, efficient engine. Also, I have yet to get to Lexus and have the "foot-air leak" C-Best setting changed to "off" so cold air still hits my feet. Not sure why that built-in air leak exists and even Lexus doesn't seem to know when I ask. In fact my dealer didn't know it existed until I showed them the C-Best settings list.

Haha yea this is true. I'm down in Naples and it's hit the 30's overnight the past few nights. Days between 40-60...below 60 is ungodly cold for us.
