Long been discussed here. There is a fix at the dealership. I've gotten used to mine and let it go.

Mine has it if I am driving on a patch of rough road. Sounds like it is coming from the dash where the lights are.

I've got that too... I was thinking what if I place a thin rubber or foam washer under the 4 10mm nuts where the center console is screwed down to? Anybody tried that?

Default Noises, Cracks, Squeaks, and Noises!

Below in italics is from another noise related thread. Nosies, Squeaks, and Cracks are ruining an otherwise great Lexus experience for me. My dash is making a cracking/squeaking/rattle sound. It happens mostly in the center near the center speaker grille. And typically is bumpy road related. Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Hi, don't wanna hijack your thread, but I'm also having some squeaky issue, and I thought it might be better to post here than to start another thread...

My squeaks is coming from where the instrument cluster is, there's this panel underneath the top that squeaks every time the road gets a bit rough. anyone have this issue before? You can see the image to where I mean...

I've gotten a similar problem from my dash. I've got an 07 w/ 25k miles and the entire dash and instrument cluster rattles constantly... I went to my local Lexus dealer and asked them to which they said there is a Technical Service Bulletin about this and an "anti-noise kit?" They mentioned that it is a package of hi/lo density foam that they stuff in your dash. I had this done for free under warranty and now the cluster doesn't rattle, but the dash near the windshield around the center speaker grille still makes awful squeaking and cracking sounds. Don't know if this helps...

Unfortunately, I have the same cracking sounds form the center vents and hard center stack trim from day 1 I got the new 08 IS250 AWD. I've had the dealer put in felt after the first month of ownership without any luck. I even went back a second time to no luck. The noise is actually getting worse after 18 months of ownership and 16,000km. The hard plastic material properties don't seem to tolerate heat. If the plastic heats up (either from the heater) or direct sunlight, it will creak at almost every bump. If you press on it, it creaks as well, but pressing on it immediately after doesn't. It's as though you've released the noise energy in the plastic to its "noiseless" state until it shapes itself back to the "noise" state with continued heat supplied. It's disappointing considering the attention to detail on the fit and finish of the interior. More so, it's embarrassing with passengers onboard. Sounds like the '09, with the slightly redesigned vents and center trim have the same issue. I had an 09 Mazda 6 rental with 33,000km for a week and the dash/interior was rock solid. It has significantly detracted from the pleasure of owning a Lexus to the point I'm considering breaking my lease for it. Wonder if an '06 GS has the same creaks...

there is a TSIB for this. i've taken it in twice, still not fix.

isn't there Lemon Law where 3rd time is a charm and they pay for the car if they can't fix the issue?

Each state has its own laws, but good luck convincing anyone that "my dash occasionally creaks" qualifies as something that "significantly impairs the use, market value, or safety of the motor vehicle"

what the. its worth a try. can u let us know about this tsib more so we can show our dealers to handle this? I mean on a free day, I don't mind them having to take a look at it. I don't mind the squeaks, but hey, if they happen to fix it, that would be awesome

I get this annoying engine rattle that everyone has been talking about and still am not sure how to fix this lol. just need to wait for someone to have a tsib.

lastly also on cold weathers, when i turn the wheel all the way right or left, when i reverse, i heard this LOUD thump twice at most. it feels like my car gets dropped an inch or something. then later on it doesnt happen again. its everytime i start the car to go to school in the morning I wonder if there is a tsib for this too lol

Howdy everyone. I too have been dealing with the rattle noises from my center front dash area. It only happens when I drive on rough condition roads.

I am very nervous about bringing it into the dealership to have it looked at. I have read posts (on CL) where members will get the car back with new rattles but in different areas or the dash was not properly reinstalled. This worries the crap out of me.

Has anyone taken their car into the local dealership and had it the rattles actually fixed? If so maybe someone can let us know which dealership and other details.

I hate to bring my car to a dealership and not service it because the rattles are not reproducible when the car is in their hands or they have not heard of such a thing. That will just **** me off because they will have my car and also a BIG waste of my time/efforts.

If someone had some luck in getting this resolved please feel free to post some info. Thanks!!

Have it as well, don't really care about it. Minor squeaks/rattles/cracks don't really bother me.

like i posted before, i actually took my car to the Chantilly, VA Lexus dealer (pohanka). its pretty late so i'll look for the actual TSIB details. they replace the dash board clips, which is apparently supposed to fix it. mine doesn't happen as much, but is still there.

you can probably search this forum or google and find it

That's my Lexus dealer as well. Any details you can provide about the TSIB and about your car (model and year) would be helpful. Thanks.
