Default Navigation sends you around in circles?

Has anyone ever had their Factory Navigation send them around in circles?

For your Orange County residents...
I was on the Peninsula and had to go to John Wayne. I like using my Navigation in my car so I punched in John Wayne into the Navi. It took me on the 55 North made me exit MacArthur then get back on the 55 South to get off at MacArthur again.

I should of just ignored the navigation since it was useless for that trip.

Navs will always do this once in a while. It is important that you either tell it Hwy or No Hwy and that makes a difference. The thing with Nav is that it is great if you can get to the locale/proximity of where you want to go, then let the Nav get you there when you are close.

I have my Garmin 1490T as well as Nav running sometimes and the Garmin does a better job. Yes, I run 2 only because I want to run a Garmin for my next car and do away with factory Nav. I have not had time to play with multiple address points on my Garmin. Garmin can take 10 points and Factory Nav can take 5.

I dont know, but make sure you have your proper settings on the nav. Toll roads on, avoid highways and etc. Otherwise, you may be in store for a ride. Again though, knowing the area always helps.

I used a Tom tom nav. unit in a rental car driving interstate recently, that pos wanted me to take every offramp off the freeway to drive on side streets. Mind you that I was 600 miles from my destination at the time!! Bottom line, no Nav is perfect. Some are just more accurate than others. I have had no problems with my Lexus factory nav system *knocks on wood*

This sounds like a PICNIC error. (Problem In Chair, Not In Computer)

I'm sure your rental nav. option screen was set to "avoid freeways". It was just honoring the option you had set.

The NAV in my g/f's car does this. It's really annoying and it seems SLOW. The worst time was when we got off the freeway, made a right turn, went about 2 miles, then made another right, followed by another right, then for good measure made another right, ended up at a stop light, then had to make a LEFT, and go back 3.5 miles the direction we originally came from.

Not does the NAV give poor directions sometimes but we've also found it to be slow and slow to re-route at times.
