Default New car already having problems.

So I just bought a 2009 IS250 yesterday, brand new, 24 miles at delivery of the vehicle.

Drove the car maybe 40 miles total yesterday, basically down the highway home and back to dealership this morning.

This morning when I started the car the check engine light and traction control lights were on and the car was very jerky when I backed out of the garage. I don't know alot about cars but seems like a transmission problem.

It ran ok to the dealership, but thats all I know right now. They are looking at it.

Kind of scares me to start out this way. 70 miles on the car and already having issues.

What would you guy do in this situation?

Thanks,
Jason

I would've done the same thing you did. Bring it to the dealership and have them check it out. Hopefully they'll figure out what's wrong with the car.

Default Update

So I got a call from the service guy and he told me a bunch of stuff I don't really understand.

He said they think maybe a piece of casting material was stuck on the nozzle cause the VVTI to get out of timing or something like that.

He said after they reset the check engine light and the timing the car is running great now, but they are going to keep it over night so they can crack it cold in the morning and see if that makes a difference.

No idea what all that means, but hopefully thats all it was is a little piece of something that he said as the car runs will get filtered out into the oil filter.

That seems plausible although highly unlikely to me. If it was big enough to block off the valves and throw off the timing, it's big enough to cause some damage if it gets inside the cylinders. Don't have too much experience here, so maybe someone else can chime in and give their slice of pie.

i would definetly bring that up to them^^^^ if something were to get in there while production it could have cause more damage it the process of throwing off the timing

Also something big like that probably wouldn't get caught by the filter... it'd blow holes through it.

Somehow I don't think this involves the oil filter or it would be more serious.

A piece of cast big enough to block a valve long enough to throw off the timing is serious enough for me.

Did you refill the gas and didn't tighten the cap? My check engine light came on after I filled up my tank but forgot to tighten the cap. Tightened it and the light went away.

Who knows wtf the problem is, better get a mind-reader involved.

Or just wait to get real answer and complete story.
