lexus is250(06)or benz c300(08)
I wil buy an used car in next minth. I am preparing about the lexus and benz. The lexus is250, made in 2006. the benz c300 is made in 2008. both of them have run at most 40,000 miles. I think the lexus is more comfortable, but the benz is more safety. in fact, i think the lexus has nicer exterior, however, the benz has better handing. I am confuse about choosing one of them. could you tell me which one do u think is better?

I'm going to go with the is250 because it is a better overall package. The c300 isn't a good looker, whether it's the inside or outside, it just doesn't look good...or at least not compared the the IS. The main thing that would move me away from buying a used mercedes is the lack of good reliability for the price you are paying!

I was in this same boat back in March. I obv. wound up getting the Lexus since I'm on these boards. I didn't like the interior of the C300 at all, very plastic feelings to me and overall cheapness. The exterior isn't bad on the C300 but the only nice angle the car has is looking at it from the front, that is if your talking about the C300 sport model. The overall better bang for your buck is the Lexus, cheaper up keep as well.
As far as things like performance and stuff they both felt about the same and the handling on the Lexus felt a lot stiffer which I prefer. The Mercedes def had a smoother ride but it felt more like i was driving an old mans "boat" car haha. I gotta say I do love that C300 look it has from the front end though. I might also add both the Lexus and Mercedes I drove were AWD models. Winner Lexus!!

Being bias of course, but i had the same decision not quite a year ago now...I, as you can tell, chose he Lexus. The Benz is just to hard and plasticy in a cheap way on the interior and not as "well crafted" in my opinion. Drive wise, the Lexus is a bit smoother so to speak and a notch less on the performance, but with some new springs your going to be absolutely satisfied!

From the sounds of it I would pick neither since they both don't seem to have much warrenty left in them from the mileage you just gave. Now if you're really set on buying one or the other I would chose the IS since it will most likely be more dependable than the C300.

What's the pricing on the two? I would expect to pay significantly less for the is250.
I think the Merc is a better highway cruiser, feels heavier but will cane you on MPG and possibly maintenance (especially if you keep it past the factory warranty)
The Lexus gets the nod for better MPG, better build quality of electronics but lacks a bit of engine oomph.
The Merc should also generate more image for you (both good and bad) - people love it or key it.
Also figure out how long you want to keep it. Very hard to sell these cars with 100K+ miles. If you're in it for the long haul, the Lexus is the logical choice (unless you like doing car repair)

Ive considered trading in for the c300 but the interior is just not what it used to be. I agree with SlickRSM and Maxx250awd on interior quality. I had the dealer tell me that the 09 C300 i was looking at tell me straight to my face that the interior was premium leather wrapped...when it was obvious it was some cheap synthetic fiber. i later checked the PO and options packages and confirms, what a douche.
if you don't care much for interiors the way i do, maybe the c300 is a good fit for you. if you care about what you sit in for an hour a day, get the is.
