Plus, a DVD drive running the nav will be a lot more reliable over the long term than a hard drive. (flash memory/SSD would've been nice, and pretty cheap for the size it'd need, but a lot harder to update for the average user)
just to keep up with the competitors. given many other brands now have hard drive (acura infiniti cadillac) the lexus system continue to seem archaic.

I'm pretty sure they're going to have an HD based nav for the 2010 IS models, considering every other 2010 has an HD nav, it would be senseless to have the 350 have the old DVD based one... I think it was simply left out of the memo.

are you serious?????!

I have been calling around like CRAZY trying to get someone to put in an order for a 2010, each one kept saying I had to wait, finally last sunday I found one that at least said he would forward my build info to lexus to see if/when it could be done. Hoping that he'll get back to me any day now.

Any idea when your car will come in? Late september?

I've been enjoying it on my Garmin for years

What's funny is all the "OEM nav is awesome" folks were insisting these weren't important features, and now just watch em come out of the woodwork about how they're jealous of the '10 guys having it

That said, I'm kinda disappointed they went to HD... I know 'everyone is doing it' but the less moving parts in my electronics the better they are IMHO. It would've been virtually costless to exchange the nav system DVD drive for reliable solid state storage..maybe even cheaper... instead of a hard disk.

Nice detailed listing, looks more complete than the last 2009 brochure.

"Expect delivery in September"
Probably when the 2010 models hit the lot.

Yeah, it does add more moving parts, but disk hard drives these days are very reliable and are able to take quite a beating. Not to mention it's probably sitting on rubber mounts to absorb much of the vibrations. We'll see how it pans out!

Maybe I am in the minority here, but after a month and a half, I still treat my nav as I did my 06. Maybe I should start playing around with it some more. I do find it curious that my dealer still tried to sell me lojack when the 2010 has a vehicle recovery system, actually...im not surprised. As for the sat. radio, no way I will be renewing it, could care less. I have prob listened to it 10 times. It tells me there is weather in the area...really??? Is that what the lightining and thunder means? As for the traffic, never understood this...wow, there is traffic in the NYC metro area at 5pm? Its not even detailed. The weather says NYC or Newark. Sorry, for $150 a year its just not worth it, but I guess thats why theyre bankrupt to begin with. People might sat $12, no big deal...well 12 bux here 12 bux there...it all adds up. I apologize in advance to all you sat. lovers out there lol
