Which connector??
Hello:
I'm attempting this mod, but it's hard to tell from your pics which connector the wires come from. I noticed I have 2 green & red wires. Are they both in the connector closest to the drivers side fender? Thanks, Adam

Ok. Since nobody knew how to do the fog lights mod... I went ahead and did it myself with success. So here is the DIY if you want do the mod.
The tools you need are: 1. Short philips head screwdriver 2. Wire cutter with crimp tool 3. 1 tap in squeeze connector 4. 1 female and 1 male connector 5. Lighted fuse/power tester 6. Electrical tape 7. box cutter or razor blade 8. needle nose pliers 9. 1 foot of power wire (12 -14 gauge) Steps: 1. Take off engine covers. (front and driver side) 2. Remove driverside fuse box cover. 3. Remove screw that holds washer fluid tube for easy access. 4. Remove backcover of driverside parking/drl light. 5. Remove parking light bulb from housing. 6. At fuse box locate and cut green with red stripe wire right in the middle. 7. At fuse box locate and cut lime green with silver rings wire right in the middle. 8. From wireloom side strip both the green with red stripe and lime green with silver ring wires and crimp together into one female connector. 9. Take extra power wire and connect one end with male connector. 10. Connect male and female connectors together. 11. Locate green power wire from parking light harness. 12. Use box cutter to cut rubber sleeve for easy access to wires. 13. Connect other end of extra power wire to green power wire of parking light harness using the squeeze connector. Make sure to have good connection. 14. Turn on parking lights for test. If your connections are good then your fogs should work whenever your parking lights are on. Note: This will render your fog light switch disabled. |
I would also like to do this.. Any more detailed info?

Ok. I finnaly got around to doing this mod. I'm not sure if I cut the correct wires, but it didn't work. The wires I cut came from the harness closest to the firewall inside the fusebox and they were connected to the connector closest to the drivers side fender. I connected the wire I ran from the parking light to the spliced wires as they came out of the harness. I didn't do anything with the wires that were coming out of the connector. Are your wires that you cut go to a connector or just in the harness? I can't tell from your pics where the wires come from or go to. What did you do with the wires you cut that aren't spilced together??
Thank you! These are the 2 wires I spliced together and connected to the parking light: http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/IMAG0054.jpg This is the other end of the wires I cut that goes into the connector. I didn't do anything with these: http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...s/IMAG0055.jpg |
It seems that you have the correct 2 wires and you did the process right.Only thing i can think of is to check your connections and make sure theyre properly spliced and use a volt meter to check for proper voltage.you tapped into GREEN wire from parking light harness yeah?

Old thread bump......
I was bored today so i tried this mod..... However i have HID's in my fogs and noticed when i tried this wiring the ballasts flickered and had trouble starting which tells me these 2 wire that are cut are actually carrying current not just signal wires to the relay..... So........... to anyone thinking of doing this mod i would HIGHLY SUGGEST installing a relay and just tapping the parking light wire for signal rather than trying to draw current from it. For now i put mine back stock untill i can get a relay and do it correctly. EDIT: after looking around ive found a universal HID relay kit that cames with everything and has all the wiring pre done for around $15.... so basically the factory fog wiring can be eliminated completely allowing you to hook them up anyway you want to(switch, parking lights,ignition...) maintaining fogs during high beam also!! |
What exactly is the green with red wire for?
Also what is the line green with silver ring normally power? I just did this mod and it's worked perfectly! But am curious of what wire does what Thanks ! |

I just did the mod and I also have HID fog lights. I tested the light out for about 10mins. I did not notice any flicker or issues... |
I did this mod and soldered everything via relay. Some of the info wasn’t correct but I figured it out.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...c89a0a800.jpeg Pin 6 and 7. Pin 6 and 7 out of the BEAN module goes to the fog lights (one each). You can circumvent that and wired directly to a 15A fuse switched circuit or thru a switch. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...4d27522dd.jpeg I go over all the options in the video. |
