HOW to ADD ML DVD to NON ML NAVI
I know a lot of people out there wish they could watch DVD's on their nice NAV screen. So it is possible but some have tried and not received the perfect outcome with aftermarket DVD players and the custom install. This thread will tell you everything you need.
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damage you may cause to your car by reading this informative thread.
WARNING: IF your scared of doing the NAV hack well stop reading now. This involves a 3 wire tap and a custom harness.
MATERIALS:
1. Solder and Soldering Gun
2. Wire Cutters
3. Electrical Tape
4. ML DVD Player $300-400 (local junkyard or car-part.com)
5. Custom Harness $50, unless you want to hardwire the wires to the unit itself. If you're going this route have it done professionally. Bestbuy said they would charge $100, probably could get it cheaper.
6. 2 hrs.
Total: $350, best upgrade I have since I can put on a DVD while we take our trips from here to there and the quality is amazing.
Here are the pictures so you know how the pins on the connectors are numbered. Pay attention to the Color of the connectors and remember the pics illustrated are from the front view.
All wire taps are done to the loom side, cap the wires coming from the existing connector.
you're done, pop in a vid and enjoy!
If anything in the above diagram is unclear, please let me know. I will take detailed pics soon.

Nice. I am intrigued. Hmmm...(Self control kicks in)
I guess I can still play videos from my iPod so it is okay. What I want to do is ML amp/speakers for non-ML car. You should continue with the whole upgrade!

why go through all that?
just get yourself a navtool system, plug that into your Nav
and add either DVD player or use Ipod to play movies
or you can add PS3 or xbox to play game
anyways,,thanks for sharing anyways,
I'm pretty sure there will be lots of people interest on this

just make sure you know what you are getting and the junk yard knows what they are selling. I've had some bad experience ordering parts from junk yards even though I specifically asked for stuff that I knew I wanted.
Some junk yards fix their mistakes and others blow you off... sometimes I rather get them locally but for the price some guys charge which can be 50%-75% price difference between local and online/shipped, i'll take the risk.
