Default Need some input...

I ordered a bumper cover for my obsidian is350 via ebay from a body shop that painted and shipped a brand new bumper cover to me for $550.
I got the bumper and it was apparent that the color did not match. The color that was on the bumper looked grey as compared to the paint on my car. I notified the seller and they told me to give it 30 days to cure and then polish, glaze and wax the bumper and see if it made a difference. Sure enough I polished with my PC (2.5, 1.0, glaze, and wax) and the color on the bumper still looks to be grey (as compared to the paint on the car).

The seller said that they are 99% sure that it is the clear and not the paint since they matched the paint on the bumper with the 212 color code (they used dupont paint). Thus, they told me that they are likely to just wetsand the bumper and send it back to me. When they told me that I offered to send them a sample so they could see in person (and not just pictures) that the color was pretty off, and they said that they would try the wetsand and if that didnt work they would get dupont to match the sample.

My question is should I just get it painted locally and be done with it (roughly $250) or should I spend the $100 to ship it back and have them try and fix the problem?

Our paint is nearly impossible to match. They would need the actual car to match it, you should have them pay for the shipping cause it doesn't match and since it sounds like they're guaranteeing it.

I have tried to get them to pay for the shipping, but the most they are willing to do is pay for half, so that means that it is going to cost me $100 to ship it back to them (and they will pay for it back to me).

What pisses me off is that I told them that the paint did not match within an hour of getting the bumper and they told me to wait 30 days for the paint to cure, and now they are telling me that I am outside of the 7 day full refund period and that there will be a 35% restocking fee if I choose to return it. So it seems that returning the bumper isnt an option. Additionally, if I send it back to them to try and fix it, there is nothing that will keep them from saying that they matched the sample as best they could and just sending it back to me with the same mismatched paint, in which case I am back to square 1 and have lost an additional $100.

That's how they get you. I would pay someone locally that can guarantee it
